{"id":580,"date":"2011-06-06T07:13:16","date_gmt":"2011-06-06T12:13:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chrisgiles.org\/blog\/?p=580"},"modified":"2011-06-12T11:04:47","modified_gmt":"2011-06-12T16:04:47","slug":"molly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chrisgiles.org\/blog\/2011\/06\/06\/molly\/","title":{"rendered":"Molly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrisgiles.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/20110228223127.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-599\" title=\"20110228223127\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrisgiles.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/20110228223127.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chrisgiles.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/20110228223127.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.chrisgiles.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/20110228223127-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a>Our family beagle, Molly, died in her sleep early this morning.\u00a0 She was Christopher&#8217;s dog &#8211; he wanted a beagle for his birthday back in 1995.<\/p>\n<p>Chris and I had talked about it &#8211; before the motorcycle accident &#8211; and didn&#8217;t think Molly would make it to Christmas.\u00a0 She did, despite all the temporary living situations that have followed my parents since the accident (the RV park in south Austin, my third floor apartment in Austin, and the temporary apartment near RIOSA in San Antonio).<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrisgiles.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/19961001-scan0014.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-583\" title=\"19961001-scan0014\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrisgiles.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/19961001-scan0014.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"193\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Chris last saw Molly when I wheeled him over to my apartment from the nursing home in Austin.\u00a0 We&#8217;d put her in his lap and pet her with one of his hands.<\/p>\n<p>Haven&#8217;t been able to do that at RIOSA due to the isolation&#8230;\u00a0 we probably had a two week window, and I&#8217;m kicking myself now for not taking advantage of it.<\/p>\n<p>We knew Molly was going to go at some point, but I&#8217;d hoped she was going to make it until Chris was discharged from RIOSA.\u00a0 Argh.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-589\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 1px;\" title=\"20110530183935\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrisgiles.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/20110530183935.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-581\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 1px;\" title=\"20110530183300\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrisgiles.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/20110530183300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our family beagle, Molly, died in her sleep early this morning.\u00a0 She was Christopher&#8217;s dog &#8211; he wanted a beagle for his birthday back in 1995.
