{"id":180,"date":"2010-10-26T23:26:28","date_gmt":"2010-10-27T04:26:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chrisgiles.org\/blog\/?p=180"},"modified":"2011-01-02T05:22:05","modified_gmt":"2011-01-02T11:22:05","slug":"fmla","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chrisgiles.org\/blog\/2010\/10\/26\/fmla\/","title":{"rendered":"FMLA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been a while since I&#8217;ve done full (08:30-22:00) weekday duty at the hosptal&#8230;  took some FMLA leave Monday \/ Tuesday (thanks to my department and the human resources folks on main campus).<\/p>\n<p>The physical therapy folks very kindly showed me how to work the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Standing_frame\">standing frame<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.motomed.de\/medizin_01_gb\/themen_01_gb\/geraete_01\/motomed_viva2_01\/fset_motomed_viva2_01.html\">MOTOmed viva2<\/a>.\u00a0  Had about an hour of standing frame time Monday with a lot of neck exercises, and thirty minutes of the same today (Tuesday).\u00a0  Thirty minutes both days on the MOTOmed stationary cycling machine, although I&#8217;m not sure it&#8217;s any better than pedaling Chris by hand on the &#8220;manual&#8221; apparatus (we did some of that on Sunday to various Rage Against The Machine tunes). \u00a0 The therapists also have priority on the MOTOmed device, since official therapy was terminated for Chris last week.\u00a0 One of the PT interns kicked us off this morning, for instance&#8230;  so I took Chris outside instead!\u00a0 I&#8217;d say he received plenty of sunshine.<\/p>\n<p>We polished off most of the 10\/16-10\/22 edition of <em>The Economist<\/em> over the last four days and covered the latest Glenn Greenwald topics.\u00a0  Also did the Nintendo emulator thing in front of Chris on the laptop (Super Contra, Jackal, Cobra Triangle), watched some recent episodes of The Simpsons.
